Welcome!

Welcome to the Frog Hollow Farm blog! I've been blogging since January 2010 and have switched from Blogger to Word Press, but I'm back to Blogger because, for me, it's easier to use. My husband and I live on a little farm in Northwest New Jersey. We have some chickens and a very large vegetable garden with asparagus and raspberries, and rows and rows of sunflowers, snapdragons and zinnias. Traveling, entertaining, gardening, spending time with family, studying Italian, blogging and reading keep us busy and happy. With all of this going on, moving towards a simpler life seems almost impossible but it's definitely a daily goal.

I Can't Believe How Beautiful Our New Bedroom Is!!!!

Okay, I promised that I would post the after-pictures of the bedroom makeover, so here goes.  Susan and Pam were here all afternoon with their two very handsome male helpers along with the curtain installers.  They have transformed a very plain room into a romantic haven.  Susan explained to me that I was trying to decorate the room in a country style, and that I needed to think more elegantly.  The bones of the room are farmhouse, with beadboard walls and painted wood floors - but the decor is now chic, warm and extremely inviting, and it balances so wonderfully with all of the wood in the room.

Here's the before picture taken this morning around 11am -
And here's the bedroom now, magically transformed into a beautiful space by two very talented decorators, using many of my own furniture peices and accessories -

Isn't this beautiful, have I said that enough in this blog?

Ciao Bella!!

  2. Oh, it's gorgeous. The space is wonderful to being with...all of those windows are amazing. I love that white checst of drawers by the bed. What a gret piece of furniture. Welcome to the blogs and I look forward to seeing you around!

  3. Miss Mustard Seed, thanks for your wonderful comments. The piece of painted furniture next to the bed is actually a lingerie chest - it was on sale and I thought that it would work as a nightstand, especially with all of those drawers!

  8. What a beautiful beautiful room. They did and excellent job. I am new to blog land too this year. One thing I do know is we like to look at lots of pictures. We would love to see more photos of your room...all different angles, closeups, all the goodies, etc. I came into your post from the ShabbyChicCottage, but I don't see a link back to there from your post. I know you are like me and still learning. It gets all so confusing sometimes. You can just add it in at the bottom of your post by going to customize and then publish again.

  9. Hi Kim, you read my mind! Last night I was thinking (while I was laying there instead of sleeping) that I should take some close-up pics of the many details that Susan and Pam added to the bedroom. There are so many little goodies that I'm sure would tickle lots of us visual junkies. Also, I'll try to figure out how to add a link from my comments on other blogs. Sending sweet sunshine and many thanks!!
    Ciao, Bella!

  15. This is such an inspiring post for me! We have, oh, six windows in our master bedroom upstairs and I have yet to figure out a way (that will look nice), to put curtains or shades on the windows. As it is now, we wake with sun whether we'd like to or not! Your bedroom is beautiful, so cozy and welcoming. Isn't it wonderful how making changes to an existing space can make you feel as if you added a whole new room to the house! I love that feeling. So nice to meet you and look forward to your future posts. Trina

  17. Hello Higgler's Notch, thank you for your lovely comment! I've never had a room so completely together - there's really nothing left to do! Very unusual for me...

Greetings A Country Farmhouse - I know what you mean about dealing with lots of windows - this solution with connecting all three windows with a window treatment really worked out beautifully. Thank you for your wonderful comments and for visiting my blog.

Shirley, you are so sweet to leave such lovely comments. I wish I could just get myself to curl up and read, but sadly save reading for bedtime. I'll have to figure out how to make more time to sit up in that room!

Ciao to all of you !!!
